A number of experienced former Grand Prix riders have developed a career in motocross coaching. Ed Bradley is one of those guys. Racing in the British and World championships between ’94 and the year 2000, Ed is now working in a different area of coaching so that even the best riders in the sport benefit from his ‘Edmaster Performance Psychology Coaching.
Q: So Ed, what you’ve been up to since you started international racing?
A: Hi, I began racing internationally in ’91 and competed in the 250 European championships in ’93 and ’94 before I started G.P.s at the end of ’94. Whilst I was racing I continued to run my own British Championship track, Doncaster Moto Parc, where I now hold my open practice sessions and coaching programs. Full time racing stopped, for me at the end of 2000. Since then I’ve had success in our domestic four stroke championship, a couple of seasons racing and coaching in Iceland and gaining formal qualifications that allow me to be successful in field of Sports Performance Psychology.
Q: So why would riders want to, see Ed Bradley for coaching?
A: Well, mostly to improve their results by developing winning mental skills, winning racing behaviour and winning race strategies. Grand Prix riders have great fitness and bike skills, as well as excellent machinery and support. So Performance Psychology Coaching is about making sure that a rider’s mental skills, racing and life values are totally aligned towards success. Riders then give themselves the chance to have that extra edge over their competition and to become champion. Being totally congruent and having values aligned towards success is what produces outstanding results and champions.
Q: Ok, well what’s involved with your Performance Coaching then?
A: It always begins with understanding what needs to change to get the results the rider wants. In many cases it’s about finding the root cause to a rider’s problem, whether that is a lack of concentration, crashing, inconsistency, being stuck on a plateau or anything that leaves a rider feeling disempowered. Once the root cause is found it can be removed and new successful strategies can be installed. Other times it will be around improving performance, setting goals and using specific visualization techniques.
Q: How are riders getting great results with your Performance Psychology Coaching?
A: On-bike skills I have developed through my years of racing at G.P.s, and now, with the introduction of the race specific Performance Psychology Techniques that I have developed, I have redesigned my training and coaching in a way that makes it unique in delivering outstanding results compared to any other coaching available at this time. And I guarantee it!
Q: What can a rider expect if they use your coaching?
A: Yes, that’s a great question, what if a rider can over come the mental blocks that hinder and prevent them from reaching the one thing that has been eluding them for such a long time? What if they could remove those blocks and know 100% that they are capable of achieving their dreams and get that result within the space of one day? It’s really powerful stuff, fun work and a pleasure to do.
Q: Hey, thanks for that Ed, it’s good to hear from you.
A: You’re welcome, thanks for your time and anyone wanting to, get in touch with ‘Edmaster Performance Coaching, visit the website www.edmaster.co.uk or better still, call Ed +44 (0)7950 311092.
